The 9 pin with 6" of lead on each pigtail will happen, the samples will just be to see the finished product, make sure everything is right, and get final pricing. I already have a pretty good pricing estimate from them that I can live with and since no one else makes one assembled it should be sellable lol.
Here are my crimpers. The 1st pic is what I use for terminals in the pigtails, you will see the 2 steps in the jaws that do 2 sizes at once. The second pic has the jaws I use for the plug wires. I have lots of jaws for lots of stuff lol.

Samples are here and look great, I do think the final product will be color coded though for an easier install. The bad news is we're about 8 weeks out on getting a finished product in quantity but it will be better than nothing lol.

The pigtail has a bit of lead time but the connector components will be here next week. I decided against the original AMP connector components, who was bought out by TE Connectivity years ago, everything I will have will be the actual Molex brand and all made in USA.
I'll be putting together a connector kit next week with the male and female housings along with 9 male and 9 female pins. They will be $9.99 for the kit. I'll also make sure to have them in the store next week.
