That looks great, much easier than the stack setup. You might want to add a closer assist, just to make sure it dos not slam shut. The little guys will go mid-evil on you if it drops. :2cents

To Bee or not to Bee :faint

Those little buggers get mad when they are alarmed, especially in the winter months when they are keeping the Queen warm.:dalek

Smoke em if you got em.

A closer assist would be cool.....think I'll go with 2 sticks.....I do have to add a string stop so it doesn't flip back also.....I had to bend the metal a little as a drip edge. The water curled around and fell on the landing strips. Not sure what to do with the bottom. I have read about screened bottom boards but I'm leery about all the light coming up through and stressing the bees. Think I'll build a closure with a hinged door. Then I can place sticky sheets inside for mite counts, beetle counts, etc. without worrying about bees getting inside. I heard cooking oil in trays works well also.
I got the entrance blocks made and have a follower board made (to reduce/expand the size of the hive horizontally) and got my spot ready.
