Blaster went back to work today.
I made a new rod for it last Friday from an old piece of 3/4, cleaned the stopper up inside and out, then put some of the strongest JB Weld in the hole and pushed the rod in until it stopped and the weld was coming back out around the edges. It's been sitting with a weight on it since last Friday to cure and it got installed and put back together today. It should last longer than it did originally considering there was no penetration on the weld. Not sure if it was the wear on the old rod or it's just seating better from the ball and seal cleanup but It's actually working better than ever now.
Total repair cost, $6 with lots of JB Weld left over.
