What's everybody doing?

Blaster is back in action and better than I ever dreamed it could be.  I updated the blaster post if anyone wants more details.   

Back to working on Carson's 121 today.  Back to working on what I like the most.  His topic has 2 new posts in it as well.  

Didn't get much done in the shop yesterday, normal for some Mondays...  Had to do some site updates this morning.  Now it's back off to working on Carson's 121.  

What I'm doing is staying in the shop and working.  It was 103 ambient here in the shade, and hardly no wind, not including the Apparent temperature, also known as "feels like"...  I'd hate to see what it was.  

It's supposed to be like this the rest of the week except a little hotter till Sat so I'm gonna stay in the shop working and keep cool.  

 

105 in the shade today with NO wind, it is brutal out there to say the least...  

I spent a few minutes putting a wireless switch on the lights for the blaster so the lights can stay on without the vac running.  It's the same switch style that I put up front when doing the double doors.  It was just a matter of splitting the light circuit off, adding the wireless controller, and sticking the magnetic switch on the blaster.  There was plenty of room for the controller in the electrical box that holds the blaster main switch so it was real easy.  I didn't worry about it before because while getting things out and blowing them off it gave the blaster time to catch up with pulling media.  Since that's not the case any more with the new pipe modifications it made sense to save a little wear and tear on the vac, a little on the electric bill, and a little on the noise in the shop so I can better hear my tunes.   

I also ordered in some stainless kitchen sink drain strainers to keep small parts in the blaster.  With the new pipe setup it will suck up some pretty decent size parts let alone the very small or light ones.

Thanks Nappy.  These wireless switches come in real handy and save a lot of time and work.  

The past few days and some of last week have been the busiest and most multi tasking ever.  I've spent more time out of the shop than in the shop last Sat, yesterday, and today which is very unusual for me.  It's my fault that I've been putting a lot of things off that just had to be done.  It's really messing with my hermit lifestyle but oh well...     

My next door neighbor needed some money so I paid him to take away 2 big loads of all the tree trimming stuff today.  1 load was what was in the dually already.  I did that tree trimming middle of April and loaded it in the truck middle of May, wow how time flies.  The place is finally cleaned up again, all of the tree trimmings at least...   

The small welding bench is also cleared off and about to be clogged up for quite awhile.  My neighbor is also the one who takes all of my scrap metal and or parts away.  Starting next week he's gonna start dismantling motors and transmissions stacked up on pallets everywhere so I can save what is savable and he can have all the rest to make himself a little extra money.   

I also got all of Carson's tires mounted and wheels on the tractor and it looks really nice.  

 

When I had to go to Lexington this past Monday before heading home I took the CTS through my fav car wash over there.  I've been going to it since 1980 when I opened the car stereo shop over there.  When I got back home I noticed the RR tail lamp lens was gone.  I called the car wash and thankfully they had it and it was in one piece.  The blower fans on the end blew it off and they saw in the video it landed on top of one of them.  I had to make another trip to Lexington on Tues to get it and finally took a few minutes to put it back on this morning before I get a ticket..  

I was super amazed it didn't get broken or hardly even scratched at all.  A really light buffing and it looks like new again minus a small crack that's hard to see unless you get real close and are looking for it.  

Other than that these pop up thunderstorms have been happening throughout the day and are supposed to for the next several days.  At least it cools things down for a little while.  

 

My neighbor showed up this morning and I showed him how to disassemble a transmission.  He can do most of one by himself after 2 of them.  I remove the shift forks and inner axle bearings because they are very rare and in higher demand.  I was surprised to find 6 good inner axle bearings, a few almost like new.  We got 5 of them done today off of the pallet in the pic.  Only 1 Wheel Horse left and the 1 3 piece is going out in the other garage complete.  I already have a few of them broken down for parts.

I'll show him how to do motors tomorrow.  The 2 motors on the bench will come down tomorrow.  The K series has a bad block with the all threads eat out of the exhaust but 1 on the end, but all the other parts are good and it ran just fine.  The magnum has a light knock so I just need to find out what it is, it may be able to be fixed as long as it is within spec to be bored.   

There's more to do outside but as much as things are clogged up around here even one less pallet in the lot will help.
