Big Sale Is On - UPDATED 03-26-26
The Big Sale is on but not like originally planned, it is a by appointment type of thing now. Be sure to call before you come to make sure the day isn't already full with peeps scheduled to come in, and make sure what you want is still available.

The peeps that sold the house that was torn down to DG are now tearing down the barn themselves. They still own 5 acres behind where they are building the new DG, and the property across the street is due West. The view out my front windows keeps getting better and better and I'm already looking forward to seeing more and better sunsets lol.

The old hip roof barn is gone and cleaned up. The DG peeps started on the framing today as well. Someone dropped a semi trailer in the way so I can't spy as good as I used to.

They've been working on this till about 8pm the past few nights and made a lot of progress. Looks like a bunch of busy bees over there lol.
These pics were taken about 3pm today with less than half of the front to go, I'm sure the outside metal is prob done by now.

They finished the roof yesterday. Every piece of equipment has been going since about 8am this morning, and they brought in several more truckloads of rock. There's a trailer being unloaded with brick on it (2nd pic), I guess that's what's going on the bottom front of the building.
This one is bigger than the ones North and South of here. The General Contractor told me this one isn't the smallest one or the biggest one they do, it's sort of in-between.

Yesterday morning they formed up and poured a concrete walkway around the building. After that they got the drainage pipes in and covered them up, and got the entrance ready on the far right. The State will be putting in a turning lane before that area at some point, not sure when but it should be pretty soon as fast as things are going.
First thing this morning they unloaded several new package units like I used to have on my building and had a big crane putting them up on the roof. They are moving along pretty good, it's nice to have a good view and watch everything as it happens.
It was 7 weeks ago as of yesterday when they started but most of the time (4 weeks) was spent breaking up the rock ledge and taking it away. It's been 3 weeks as of today that they finally started construction.
The hood on the boom truck is especially cool.

They did the right half brick on the building last Sunday and the left half on Monday. Yesterday they started bringing in a lot of drywall and pouring concrete, I've never seen so many trucks lined up. I wasn't sure what they were doing but now I see the parking lot is gonna be huge and all done in concrete instead of blacktop. Looks like they kept their word, this is supposed to be a really nice store because it's in more of a residential area even though it's zoned for commercial.
I feel bad for the poor guys out there this morning, it's 35 degrees with 25-30mph winds.

I've been keeping pics from the last few days until the website was moved so the post didn't get lost. Here's the progress. The fancy parking lot is done, they're breaking up more rock on the South side, the front doors and glass are in, and they've been working inside.

They put something in the ground that looks to be a possible light pole, hauled the rock, steps, sidewalk, curb, etc, that was there away, and got a lot of finishing work done on the North side today.
There's also a lot going on inside but I haven't been over there to check it out, I may try to get over there this weekend.

KU (Kentucky Utilities) was over there today and it looks like they got the place powered up. They set a new pole and put 3 or 4 large transformers on it, you can see in the last pic the big bucket truck has a crane built into it and they're hoisting another one up. They also painted the brick on the bottom of the building today, not sure why but I guess they have their reasons...

1st pic is from early this morning, looks like they were having a gathering at the pole party.
Actually what was funnier is that one was working and 5 were watching... They were forming up for concrete on the sidewalk and curb. I was surprised they also dug down and cleaned up where the driveway for the house was and put the sidewalk and curb back there where there didn't used to be one. I'm impressed, they are really going above and beyond to make it a really nice store.
They also got the down lights on the building today and working. In the last pic shows them although the ones on the side aren't on now but they were this afternoon when they first came on.
